LIBRARY A library opens the portals to the infinite world of knowledge. The myriad books in the Junior and Senior library transport us back to history, help us to delve into the unknown mysteries of the world and widen our world view. A library of wisdom, is more precious than all wealth, and all things that are desirable cannot be compared to it. Whoever therefore claims to be zealous of truth, of happiness, of wisdom or knowledge, must become a lover of books. The libraries are open every day for student and staff use. There is a computerized catalogue to assist with finding material together with a wide range of resources, including computers, CD/DVD’s and talking books (cassette tapes). The center has a large reference section and carries a variety of newspapers and magazines. The aim of the center is to provide a lively research area within the school for study and reading. A library teacher is present throughout the day, to assist with individual research and to supervise the smooth running of the library facilities. The library has more than 5,000 books, 10 periodicals, volumes of Encyclopaedias covering a wide range of topics including Academics & Career Guidance. There is a Book Club- ‘The Literati Cubs’ which consists of students from Classes VI-IX. There are around 1000-2000 books in the Junior Library , including fiction and non-fiction books.
The School has two computer laboratories with 10 computers in each lab accessible to students.
It has advanced infrastructure in terms of hardware and software which cater to the requirements of the students, teachers and the curriculum. The school is equipped with a dedicated broadband Internet connection for enterprising students get a chance to be familiar with the Internet. They do comprehensive research for their projects and presentations.
The department has qualified committed teachers to teach different classes at different levels i.e. Primary, Secondary Sr. Secondary. The faculty members make continuous efforts to see that the students must get expertise in practical implementation of tools they have in their curriculum.The Information Technology curriculum has been planned in such a way that the students of classes III to VIII will get exposure to various technologies and softwares. In the primary section, the students are trained to use basic softwares like Windows, MS-Office (Ms-Word, MS-Powerpoint, Ms-Excel etc.). Along with this, they get exposure to computer programming at elementary stage through the computer languages like LOGO and Q-Basic in order to improve their logical skills. The students are assessed on their practical skills over a regular time interval via projects and assignments given to them. In the higher classes the students have an option to learn advanced softwares which are the part of their curriculum.
Our school is promoting both indoor and outdoor sports.
A wide range of activities are delivered in school that aim to engage and inspire all of our children. We are also committed to ensure that all children receive at least 2 hours of high quality, well planned Physical Acitivities.
Our school is keen to provide a variety of extra curricular activities throughout the year which are organised by our teaching staff and sports coaches.Children have the chance to try many sports including dance, football, judo, Zumba, multi-skills, cricket, basketball, dodgeball and rounders.Primary school experiences are pivotal to the children’s future perception of physical activity and we believe that children leave our school equipped to enjoy sport for all its health and social benefits. For those who relish the competitive element, they gain the skills, confidence and relevant experience to succeed at their chosen level and discipline.
The Music room is equipped with quality string, percussion and key-based instruments, allowing children to tap into their musical talent. The room is also equipped with a projector that facilitates the screening of song lyrics when vocal training sessions are in progress. Well qualified music teachers guide students in their musical pursuits.
The teachers work with devotion to teach students virtuosity in music whilst they are in constant pursuit of unearthing new talent and moulding singers with a consummate mastery of musical techniques. Students are encouraged to not only achieve proficiency in technical skills, but are inspired to nurture a passion for music and a penchant for perfection. The students are encouraged to create their own compositions.
The School Art room is a place where students can develop their self-esteem through involvement in the art making process, having fun as they explore new ideas, materials and techniques. The Art room is a well-equipped, spacious, light-filled space that is visually engaging for the students. The Art Room facilities offer wet and dry working areas, ample storage of artworks, easels, an office and 2 kilns. The Art Room is located in the Primary Area of the Main Campus.
The Art Department of Shanti Memorial School VARANASI has two Art rooms to cater to the Junior and Middle school. The rooms are a kaleidoscope of colour, imagination and creativity .The objective of the Department is to teach students to interpret their thoughts and emotions, to fly on the gossamer wings of ingenuity and learn to showcase them in realistic and fusion art, with the use of different techniques .
The budding artists explore their talent through painting, book cover designing, poster making, sculpture, mosaic work ,ceramics and glass painting. The department organises trips to Art Galleries and Museums.
